Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Performs a vital role in the Undergraduate Program (UGrad) at the Kelley School of Business by leading the development and management of the UGrad communications strategy, with special emphasis on student communications, cohesive branding, and internal marketing of programs, services, and events to students and other target constituencies.
- Consults with program and department stakeholders, serves as the Undergraduate Programs liaison to the Kelley Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) regarding undergraduate student communication, provides expert strategic marketing/communications guidance and support to the wider UGrad staff team, manages core communication channels, ensures that the UGrad brand is integrated, cohesive, and compelling, and facilitates alignment with the overarching Kelley School of Business brand strategies and organizational objectives.
- Reports to the Senior Director of the Undergraduate Program.
- Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that engages, informs, and inspires the current undergraduate student body throughout their time at Kelley.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the Undergraduate Program and the Kelley Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) regarding undergraduate student messaging to ensure it aligns with overarching brand standards and institutional priorities.
- Consults with program and department stakeholders to identify, assess, and prioritize communication needs for various services, programming, and student events.
- Writes, edits, and produces student-facing content, including critical announcements, newsletters, and promotional materials for internal audiences.
- Manages core internal communication channels including email (via Marketing Cloud), web content, and social media to ensure the timely and effective delivery of information to students.
- Ensures a cohesive brand experience by integrating disparate program initiatives into a unified undergraduate voice that resonates with students, parents, and alumni.
- Collaborates with creative and digital teams to adapt design templates and coordinate the production of print materials, maintaining brand consistency while meeting specific project needs.
- Supports high-profile events by providing strategic marketing guidance and overseeing the creation of promotional materials.
- Establishes and tracks performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness of internal communications and uses data to recommend improvements for student engagement. It provides expert strategic guidance to the wider undergraduate staff team on marketing best practices and innovative ways to drive student outcomes.
- Regularly researches emerging communication trends and tools to enhance internal outreach and ensure the undergraduate program remains a leader in student engagement.
- Generates regular reports and presentations for leadership to provide updates on initiative status, stakeholder consultations, and media performance data.
- Performs other related administrative duties as needed.
General Responsibilities
- Independently creates basic and complex communications for print and e-distribution on behalf of department or large multi-faceted department and in support of departmental goals and objectives; communications may be interdepartmental; staff, faculty, or student-focused; or external.
- Responds to inquiries and requests and explains policies, procedures, and context of communications.
- Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and creates communications coverage for relevant initiatives, events, and programs.
- Prepares communications timelines and shares progress of communications toward relevant deadlines with manager, team members, and other relevant constituents.
- Regularly monitors relevant social media and news sites; researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty.
- Utilizes various communications software programs and delivers communications in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
- Monitors industry trends and best practices and makes process and operational recommendations to manager.
- May provide guidance to lower-level Communications Generalists.
