Job Description

Today, UMKC's enrollment sits at 15,300 students.
UMKC is seeking a new Director of Student Health Services. This position is part of the leadership team for Roo Wellness, and the UMKC Division of Student Affairs. The Director of Student Health Services directs the development and integration of the UMKC student health center to support the health and wellness needs of all students enrolled at UMKC. The incumbent will also be responsible for directing the financial, operations and personnel activities of the student health center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients, including mental health, and other acute & chronic conditions, within the scope of Advanced Practice Nursing.
- Manage quality assurance programs for health services.
- Supervise and participate in development and implementation of health and wellness programs as a part of outreach to the campus community, which includes student orientations.
- Participate in University meetings, projects, and committees as assigned.
- Develop patient education programs and materials.
- Develop, and maintain clinic policies and procedures.
- Establish and monitor contracts with, and services provided by, University Physician Associates, medical supply companies, laboratories, and pharmaceutical companies.
- Management of the Electronic Medical Records System, including monitoring functionality and problem solving.
- Assist with coordination of medical crisis response procedures for the university community.
- Manage and maintain the Student Health and Wellness web pages related to medical services.
- Participate in University/Division meetings, projects and committees as assigned while collaborating with other University offices.
- Provide supervision and direction for three Nurse Practitioners two Registered Nurses, one Health Educator, and two Administrative Staff.
- Maintain adequate staffing and scheduling of vacation. Approve time sheets and vacation requests for all staff.
- Assist with cost analysis to determine clinic pricing for visits, medications, and laboratory testing.
- Advise CHTD Director and Fiscal Officer on health-related budget planning processes and purchases.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff. Specifically, the willingness and ability to function as an integral team member within the department (Counseling, Health Services, Student Recreation) and the Student Affairs Division.
- Supervise medical staff, provide timely direction, feedback, and conduct annual performance appraisals.
- Competency and commitment to providing and sustaining services and environment that is inclusive to a diverse college population.
- Work collaboratively with the Dean of Students and the CARE team.
Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree in a relevant area, and 8 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired OR a bachelor's degree in a relevant area and 10 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in Relevant Area. DNP, PA, or MSN required, and Advanced Practice Nursing Licensure in the state of Missouri. Preferred specializations: Family Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Practitioner
- Five or more years' experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse, or Physician Assistant with some component of managerial experience.
- BLS Certification.
- Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record System.
- Experience working in a college health setting.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Starting at an annual salary of $120,000.
