Job Description

The director of veterinary technical staff will be working within the scope and guidelines of SACS and AVMA accrediting bodies as well as OSHA and USDA. The position will supervise technical staff involved with the delivery of lab and clinical activities for assigned courses and educational activities under the direction of the designated faculty. In addition, the director of technical staff will oversee all animal recordkeeping, inventory for DVTC lab activities, and maintenance of material and equipment required for the lab. The director of technical staff will oversee the handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of the animals that visit and are housed at the DVTC.

Required Qualifications

An associates degree in related field of study and a minimum of one year's experience in a leadership role

Job Duties

• Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large;
• promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students;
• manage and supervise the CVM veterinary technical staff,
• participate on university committees;
• assist the designated faculty to provide clinical and lab experiences for students in an efficient, professional, and authoritative manner;
• assist in the education of the student under the direction of designated faculty while the student learns the veterinary medical clinical skills process as he/she acquires the knowledge, understanding, and the entry-level skills required of veterinarians;
• maintain records and evaluations of the students for the activities during the clinical experiences;
• ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical student activities,
• oversee medical records of animals that are used in teaching;
• comply with all IACUC guidelines;
• oversee the maintenance of a current inventory of materials and equipment used in labs;
• participate in the handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of the animals housed at the DVTC teaching center;
• complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University
