Director, Research Operations and Outreach- School of Public Health
Job Summary
Assist the School of Public Health leadership in establishing, developing, and sustaining the Institute for Disaster Health Sciences (IDHS) at Augusta University. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in implementing the institute's strategic vision by directing operational planning, developing collaborations across Augusta University's schools and colleges, and ensuring alignment with the university's mission and goals.
In addition, the incumbent will manage and execute externally funded projects, with an emphasis on outreach and applied research activities, overseeing outreach programming, project implementation, technical writing, and budget development, all consistent with grant objectives and deliverables.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Institute Development and Strategic Support:
- Assist School of Public Health leadership in establishing and sustaining the Institute for Disaster Health Sciences (IDHS) at Augusta University. Support IDHS strategic planning, operational processes, and goal setting in alignment with Augusta University priorities. Develop and maintain interdisciplinary collaborations with other schools, colleges, and administrative units at Augusta University. Contribute to identifying funding and partnership opportunities that advance the institutes mission.
Project Management, Personnel Supervision and Grant Execution:
- Direct externally funded outreach and applied research projects within IDHS to ensure grant deliverables are met on time and within scope. Supervise and provide direction to IDHS employees and project staff to ensure effective project performance. Liaise with federal, state, and other funding agencies to maintain compliance with regulations and align deliverables with current standards. Manage project budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility and adherence to sponsor and institutional requirements. Lead meetings with project officers and external stakeholders to review progress, address challenges, and refine project goals.
Outreach and Knowledge Dissemination:
- Oversee logistics for grant-related activities, including meetings, events, and in-person and virtual training sessions. Direct, develop, and deliver training programs in emergency preparedness, disaster medicine, and related topics. Create after-action reports, improvement plans, project reports, and other documents to disseminate key findings. Represent IDHS at local, state, national, and international conferences and meetings, presenting outreach and project outcomes and engaging with stakeholders.
Professional Development and Institutional Engagement:
- Participate in professional training, continuing education, and credentialing activities relevant to disaster health sciences. Maintain current knowledge of emerging trends, standards, and best practices in disaster health, emergency preparedness, and related fields. Engage in professional networks and represent IDHS in external meetings and collaborative initiatives.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Emergency Preparedness, or related field; and 5 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Knowledge and experience in program design and development, grant management and budgeting, and working with governmental organizations and community partners on issues related to emergency preparedness programs. A working knowledge of the challenges facing Georgia's healthcare communities that contribute to reduced resilience to disasters.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and Presentation Design software.
SKILLS
Detail-oriented, strong communication skills, ability to develop and implement strategic plans, able to manage a team to implement goals and strategy.
ABILITIES
Ability to travel overnight.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position).
Pay Band: B16
Salary Minimum: $95,200-$110,000 annually.
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
