POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Student Leadership & Involvement reports to the Dean of Students and is responsible for coordinating tangible programmatic efforts that support our Catholic mission, co-curricular learning and the University's four pillars of welcoming, learning, celebrating and serving. In this role, the Director will create and implement leadership and student development programs designed to advance student learning and to transform students leaders into civically engaged citizens.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Plan, implement and assess engaging co-curricular activities, which provide a welcoming campus environment and support student recruitment, retention and the successful achievement of academic and career goals.
- Supervise the Graduate Assistant for Campus Programming, who assists with the development and implementation of campus programming, co-advises the Seton Hill Programming Board, and coordinates marketing efforts.
- Serve as the primary advisor of the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Seton Hill Programming Board (SHPB).
- Supervise the Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation, who assists with the development and implementation of intramural sports, fitness programs, club sports, and student entrepreneurship efforts.
- Coordinates student traditions, including Christmas on the Hill, Seton Hill's preeminent tradition that reaches over 700 students annually; as well as Welcome Week, Midnight Breakfast, and class traditions.
- Oversee, in conjunction with Information Technology staff, the utilization and maximization of the SHINE/Engage and Pathify platforms for co-curricular purposes.
- Serve as the liaison and primary point of contact to all Student Organizations by providing information and materials on program policies, procedures, leadership opportunities and new innovative ideas.
- Provide support including the Involvement Fair, Club Funding Allocations, Recognition Process, Officer Training, Advisor Training, and oversight of the Student Organization and Club Sports handbooks.
- Coordinate campus-wide recognition efforts annually at the Spotlight Awards.
- Serve as the co-chair of the campus-wide Homecoming Committee.
- Build partnerships and collaborations across departments to provide campus-wide leadership development and training programs, and events and programs designed for the social, cultural and educational development of students.
- Responsible for keeping social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkTree, Threads, X, and YouTube) updated.
- Responsible for fiscal responsibility, budget oversight, and budget allocation in line with strategic priorities.
- Assist the Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs, Planning & Athletics with progress toward initiatives within the University Strategic Plan.
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Promote good public relations for the University, both within and outside the University community.
- Serve on University committees.
- Represent Student Affairs and the University in a professional manner.
- Perform all other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of full-time experience in higher education or related setting.
- Additional required skills include organizational, social media, and financial management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree in student affairs, student personnel, counseling, organizational development or an education or business-related area is required
- Ability to easily grasp changing technological skills and platforms
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, project management skills
