Position Summary: Reporting to the Associate Director of Disability Services, the Disabilities Services Specialist works collaboratively with the Disability Services team to ensure all registered students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels are being afforded reasonable accommodations to succeed as students at Fordham University. This position requires evening and weekend hours.
Essential Functions:
- Provides support to students with disabilities, including advising on available accommodations, outlining rights and responsibilities, and guiding them through the accommodation request process.
- Conducts independent intake meetings, reviews documentation, and assists the Associate Director to provide accommodations in compliance with ADA regulations.
- Maintains and updates accurate and confidential records of accommodations, ensuring compliance with University policies and legal regulations.
- Collaborates with faculty to implement approved accommodations.
- Conducts individual training sessions for students and faculty.
- Serves as a liaison between students and deans for foreign language substitutions and other academic matters.
- Represents the director, associate director, or assistant director in meetings and workshops.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, disability studies, or a related field. Minimum two years' experience in a higher educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. Experience in disability services, student affairs, or a related field within higher education. Knowledge of federal and state laws related to disability accommodations in higher education (e.g., ADA, Section 504).
Minimum Salary: $65,000
Maximum Salary: $66,800
