Under the direction of the Director of Disability Services (DDS)
and in collaboration with the Assistant Director and department
staff, the Disability Services & Test Center Specialist serves
in a role supporting both the Department of Disability Services and
the daily operations of the Test Center. The position is
responsible for coordinating accessibility-related services,
maintaining accurate and confidential student records, supporting
accommodation-related processes, coordinating accessible testing
services, and assisting with the efficient and secure operation of
the Test Center. The coordinator works collaboratively with
students, faculty, and staff to maintain compliance with Section
504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), and FERPA.
The position also supports assistive technology initiatives and the
efficient operation of the Test Center by supervising testing
processes, maintaining secure testing environments, and ensuring
exceptional service delivery.
This is a fully in-person position with
responsibilities primarily located on the University's main campus,
and occasional duties at the nearby graduate center.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Disability Service Coordination
- Coordinates the day-to-day administrative operations of the
Department of Disability Services in accordance with departmental
policies and established procedures.
Manage accommodation service procurement, including tracking
requests, vendor performance, payment reconciliation, and quality
assurance.
Monitor and maintain departmental budgets, including purchase
orders, vendor payments, budget analysis, and projections.
Coordinate procurement of office supplies and services.
Collect, analyze, and prepare reports on DDS programs,
services, accommodations, and student utilization data using
Accommodate and other university systems.
Maintain accurate and confidential student records in
compliance with FERPA and university privacy requirements.
Monitor the department's general email account and respond to
inquiries.
Provide information and support to students, faculty, and staff
regarding accommodations, accessibility resources, departmental
procedures, and related policies.
DDS Test Center Operations
- Consults with Director and department staff on the coordination
and oversight of daily operations ensuring approved testing
accommodations are implemented accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinates the scheduling and implementation of approved
testing accommodations, including extended testing time, readers,
scribes, text-to-speech technology, distraction-reduced testing,
and other approved accommodations.
- Coordinates schedules and assignments for on-call test
proctors.
- Ensures examinations and testing materials are received,
secured, administered, and returned to faculty in accordance with
departmental procedures.
- Serves as a liaison between students and faculty regarding
testing schedules, procedures, and accommodation
implementation.
- Maintains the security of student belongings and testing
materials throughout the testing process.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible
administrative, office, student services, disability services,
accessibility services, testing services, or related
experience.
- One to three years of related higher education experience.
- Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADA
Amendments Act (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and
FERPA and accessible testing procedures.
- Working knowledge of assistive technology, accessibility
software, Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to learn new
technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal
communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining
accuracy and confidentiality.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively
work with diverse students, faculty, staff, and families.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem-solving, and
discretion when handling confidential information.
- Demonstrated commitment to accessibility, equity, inclusion,
and student success.
- Ability to work independently on assigned responsibilities
while functioning effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Must have the ability to interact with students of various
abilities and be sensitive to a diverse campus community.
- Must be student centered, team oriented, and able to maintain a
professional demeanor at all times including when working with
difficult persons and situations.
- Ability to work alternative schedules, including occasional
evenings, as operational needs require.
Preferred Requirements:
- Three to five years of higher education experience.
- Academic background in education, psychology, counseling,
special education, or related field.
- Knowledge of Accommodate.
- Experience supporting students with disabilities in a higher
education environment.
