Dispatch Officer
Job Summary:
The Campus Safety Office at Rollins College is currently inviting service-oriented individuals to apply for a Dispatch Officer position.
- Receiving calls regarding accidents, crimes, complaints, emergencies, and other requests for campus safety assistance occurring on campus property
- Providing information as necessary and dispatching safety officers to appropriate locations
- Dispatching calls for local police, fire, and other emergency response agencies as necessary
- Assisting and directing students, guests, and visitors on campus
- Maintaining campus safety logs and records
- Review and respond to emails and phone calls promptly
- Monitoring and maintaining computerized safety and security systems (CCTV, Workers Compensation, Access Control using Blackboard, etc.)
- Issuing parking permits and processing parking citations
- Issuing R-Cards
- Oversee student workers when supervisors are not available
Minimum Qualifications & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of job-related experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle report (MVR) are required to drive College vehicles.
- Possess and maintain CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire.
- Possess and maintain State of Florida ‘Class D' security license within 90 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to train, direct, and supervise the work of others.
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern safety/police practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of and abiding by all guidelines associated with the Clery Act and Title IX.
- Strong service orientation with a demonstrated ability to effectively meet the needs of and work collaboratively with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty, and public.
- Ability to use tact and good judgment in resolving work problems and dealing with the public, students, and staff.
- Ability to work in demanding and stressful situations.
Work Schedule:
The Campus Safety Office provides 24-hour response to call for service, provides routine and directed patrol activities, parking enforcement, and preliminary investigation of most campus incidents.
- Schedule: 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM. Days off will be discussed during the interview.
- Hours: Security Officers work approximately 40 hours per week, for a total of 2,080 hours per year.
