Division Manager
The Division Manager (DM) has a challenging and rewarding job working with an exceptional group of faculty and staff in a dynamic multi-institutional environment. In partnership with the division chief, the incumbent is responsible for developing short and long range needs assessments to appropriately support the division's overall goals and missions. The incumbent takes initiative to develop operations policy and works closely with the division chief to facilitate effective decision-making processes in addition to having both internal and external facing responsibilities addressing strategic direction, divisional expansion and growth, and overall administration and center operations. The incumbent plans, organizes and directs all activities to ensure operational effectiveness of the division including: financial management, academic faculty and staff personnel administration, research administration, IT services, space and facilities management. The incumbent has responsibility for the administration and financial relationships of the division with Department of Medicine and other departments and divisions at UCSF.
The division manager position has a dual role as the chief administrator for the division: 1) The DM is responsible for all operating activities, including developing and maintaining appropriate systems to ensure high quality service delivery, integrating administrative, fiscal, and programmatic systems, and 2) provides organizational management to researchers and collaborators of the division, and monitors and evaluates the progress and outcomes of projects. Overall, in partnership with the chief, the DM is responsible for strategic planning - anticipating and incorporating needed changes in programs while evaluating the impact of policy shifts or other external changes on DoC-IT. As a non-clinical division, the division manager predominantly focuses on supporting research, training/education, HR, finance, and strategy related to growing and sustaining the division and its people and programs.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $143,900 - $215,800 (Annual Rate).
