Divisional Finance Manager - Social Sciences

Finance Division

The University of Oxford’s Finance Division is seeking a Divisional Finance Manager to support the Social Sciences Division. You’ll lead on budgeting, financial planning, management reporting, and project delivery working closely with academic departments to ensure strategic financial oversight.

Location: Social Sciences Divisional Office, 75 George Street, Oxford, OX1 2BQ With the option of some hybrid/remote working

Salary: £49,119 -  £58,265 per annum if part-time (pro rata)

Contract: Part Time 2.5 to 3 days with flexibility, upto 12 month maternity cover, also available as a secondment opportunity for current University of Oxford employees.

About the Role

The Divisional Finance Manager will closely support the division and its academic departments with its budgeting, forecasting and monitoring; management accounting and reporting; financial planning and analysis; the delivery of finance projects; and other high-level financial administration tasks. The role will enable the Division and its departments to ensure we respond proactively and appropriately to the fast-changing financial and operational environment in which we work.

  • Provide expert financial advice to academic departments.
  • Support and guide departmental finance processes.
  • Manage divisional budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Deliver clear, accurate management reporting and analysis.
  • Strengthen financial controls and support audit responses.
  • Lead and support divisional finance projects and initiatives.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all interactions.

About You

  • Professional accounting qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven financial management in complex environments - Excellent communication & leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and IT system skills (e.g., Oracle, Excel)
