Donor Communications Associate, Reporting

Do you want to help communicate the impact of some of the most significant philanthropic gifts to one of the world's leading universities? Are you motivated by building trust with donors and telling compelling stories?

We are looking for a Donor Communications Associate to join our Donor and Volunteer Relations team within the Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations Office. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that the University's most generous benefactors receive meaningful, accurate, and inspiring updates about the projects they support.

Why this role? Why now?

Philanthropy plays a transformative role in Cambridge's ability to pursue world-changing research, expand access for students, and deliver innovation at scale. Stewarding these gifts is just as important as securing them, and our reporting team ensures that donors see the real-world difference their generosity makes. As the University prepares for its next landmark campaign, your work will be at the heart of strengthening donor trust and inspiring continued investment in Cambridge's mission.

What you'll do:

  • Project manage and author high-quality stewardship and impact reports for some of the University's largest benefactors.
  • Liaise with senior academics, fundraisers, and colleagues across Cambridge to gather complex information and translate it into clear, engaging narratives.
  • Interpret and present financial information clearly.
  • Develop and refine reporting processes to enhance stewardship practice across the University.

Who we're looking for:

A detail-oriented and organised professional with excellent writing, project management and interpersonal skills, with an interest in donor stewardship. You'll be confident working with complex information, and able to build effective relationships with senior colleagues.

You'll have:

  • Proven ability to write high-quality reports, ideally with experience in content creation or publishing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with senior academics and colleagues.
  • Strong analytical skills, including interpreting financial data and presenting it clearly.
  • Excellent judgement, tact, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects to tight deadlines.
  • Experience in donor relations, alumni relations, fundraising, or a similar environment (desirable).

This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in Cambridge's donor stewardship programme, ensuring our benefactors feel valued, informed, and inspired to continue their partnership with the University.
