The College is seeking passionate individuals to serve as liaisonsupporting enrollment from high schools in the Fremont, Newark, and Union City region. The College would like to strengthen the pathway and services offered to these students by having a consistent presence on the high school campuses. This position provides the employee(s) with the skills, expertise, and experience necessary to enter professional roles in high school and higher education environments. This opportunity will equip the employee with general and in-depth knowledge of a vast range of student support services and programs.
This is a temporary position, limited to a maximum of 165 working days within a fiscal year.
Duties and Responsibilities
The purpose of the Dual Enrollment Liaison (DELs) is to guide feeder school students on the pathway to Ohlone College. DELs will develop a relationship with assigned feeder school sites and students by being present on the school campuses. The Dual Enrollment Liaison will provide information, answer questions, and will assist in the recruitment, enrollment, and matriculation of Ohlone College feeder school students.
- The objective of this role is to develop professionals who can, under the supervision of a designated manager, aid feeder school students.
- In alignment with guided pathways, DEL's will serve designated location(s) and provide student assistance in Ohlone college applications, early college applications, dual enrollment applications and other matriculation assistance and transition.
- DEL's will also be versed in various student support programs (i.e. UMOJA, Puente, Career Services, Dreamers/Undocumented, Student Accessibility Services, EOPS, etc.)
- DEL's are essential to creating a model for student integration into the college to increase opportunities for success by introducing the college and its services to feeder school students.
- DEL's will be trained to assist students and high school staff in the following areas: enrollment process; including but not limited to admissions, basic residency questions, dual enrollment processes & any other paperwork related to enrollment, support in navigating student account set up (MyOhlone, canvas, outlook), College aid Award Letters, Dreamer/undocumented access.
- DEL's will also provide information on Ohlone College programs that include EOPS, Puente, Umoja, SAS, Career Planning, Guided Pathways programs, etc.
- DEL's develop skills, abilities, and sensitivities for assisting a diverse student population in an educational setting.
- DEL's will employ use of technology and communication systems to generate reports, track student progress, inform students of critical information essential to their success at Ohlone and other duties as assigned that support student success.
Duration
This position is renewable on an annual basis and shall work a maximum of 20 hours per week with the assignment spanning 45 weeks per year including regular and summer terms.
Assessment
DEL's will work under the direction and supervision of a college administrator. Their progress is measured each semester through direct observation, student surveys, mentoring, and ongoing training sessions.

- Cite eligibility requirements, systems, and processes for student services and programs.
- Implement activities that address and resolve student barriers to entering college that promote retention and student success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Any combination equivalent to a bachelor's degree and two years of related work experience;
AND - Demonstration of effective oral and written communication skills, including presentations;
- Possession of working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs;
- Possession of good record-keeping skills with an attention to detail;
- Possession of the ability to provide an equitable and inclusive working and educational environment;
AND
Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
Desirable Qualifications
Bilingual competency in Spanish and/or American Sign Language preferred.
Working Conditions
- DEL's will be assigned to school site(s) in the Ohlone Community College district, which includes the cities of Fremont, Newark and Union City.
- The work assignment will consist of a maximum of 20 hours per week over a span of 45 weeks. Around sixteen (16) hours will be served at the school site over a minimum of two days per week, and four (4) hours will be assigned at the Ohlone College campus for meetings and training activities.
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned locations is required.
