Essential Job Functions

Classroom Instruction & Child Engagement

• Implement lesson plans and activities provided by the regular teacher.
• Foster a supportive and stimulating environment that encourages exploration and learning.
• Adapt to children's individual needs and respond to their interests in real time.

Child Supervision & Safety

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom and during outdoor activities.
• Follow established health, safety, and emergency protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work effectively with co-teachers and university students to maintain continuity in classroom routines.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, colleagues, and families.
• Provide feedback on the day's activities and any incidents to the program director.

Program Support

• Assist in transitions, meals, and rest times as needed.
• Support university students, interns, and observers as they engage in classroom experiences.
• Follow all policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.
Substitutes may be called on to work at the App State Child Development Center or the Lucy Brock Child Development Laboratory Program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in child development or related field
• Experience working in a childcare setting

Work Schedule/Hours: Substitutes will be utilized on an as-needed basis.
