JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Associate Teacher promotes active learning by planning and implementing developmentally-appropriate learning experiences for two (2) to five (5) years old children in the Lab School; works as a member of the instructional team to plan and implement curriculum and programs; assists with developmental assessments; communicates with parents/guardians regarding their child(ren)'s development; provides instructional assistance to individuals or small groups; assists in creating an environment where college students and volunteers can acquire necessary skills and gain field experience. A director provides general supervision, while guidance is provided by an ECE Master Teacher.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An ECE Associate Teacher supports an instructional team composed of higher-level ECE instructors including an ECE Teacher, ECE Master Teacher I and ECE Master Teacher II. An incumbent in the class is distinguished from an ECE Teacher in that the latter class requires a Child Development Teacher Permit requiring additional education and experience and performs higher-level functions.

Required Education and Experience
