Cabrillo College is accepting applications to fill temporary, part-time faculty assignments and establish an eligibility pool for positions that may become available in 2025 Fall Semester:
- ECE Courses to be determined, and may include: ECE 31 Child Growth and Development, ECE 52 Teaching in a Diverse Society.
This associate position is open for application submission through the deadline date as noted above or until the position has been filled. The location for this position is in person at our Aptos campus and may include other locations as needed, but may also include options for hybrid (onsite/online) as requirements are determined.

Examples of Duties
- Teach assigned classes, which may include evening or off-campus assignments
- Engage in participatory governance committees, processes, research, service, and initiatives such as Guided Pathways
- Maintain timely and accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress
- Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours
- Cooperate with and participate as may be required in District investigations and/or student grievance matters
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff
- Complete required District trainings such as Title IX, Mandated Reporter, EEO/Diversity/Elimination of Bias, Workplace Safety, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation, of community college students, faculty and staff AND
- For ECE 31: A Master's in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR A Master's in psychology OR A Bachelor's in the above AND a Master's in social work, educational supervision, etc. OR A Bachelor's in psychology AND a Master's in counseling, sociology, etc.
- For all other general courses: Similar qualifications as above.
- Possess a lifetime California Community College Instructor credential in Child Development or Early Childhood Education OR Equivalent.
Required Professional Expertise: Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional field, commitment to teaching strategies that enhance student success, effective communication skills, etc.
Desired Qualifications: Successful teaching experience at the community college level, ability to employ innovative teaching techniques, experience teaching diverse student populations, successful online teaching experience, knowledge of culturally-responsive pedagogical techniques.
Additional Information
Starting Salary: $1,599 - $2,454 per teaching unit, per semester; salary placement determined by education and experience.
Faculty employees are required to join the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS). Position begins at the start of the semester needed, pending Governing Board ratification.
