  • Fixed-term role until September 2028.

Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With

Building upon our previously successful protein crystallisation prototype development, we are working towards the establishment of streamlined, cost-effective crystallisation facilities and services on commercial space stations.

Using the technology, partnerships, and processes developed in this programme, we will establish a competitive commercial microgravity research industry in New Zealand at the interface between the trillion-dollar global pharmaceutical and aerospace sectors.

The Programme is led by a UC academic at UC in partnership with a team of academics and industry professionals from University of Canterbury, University of Auckland, Arizona State University, Asteria Engineering Consultancy, Intranel Consultancy, Tawhaki Joint Venture, and Axiom Space.

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

As the Programme Manager for our MBIE Endeavour Research Programme, you will play a pivotal role in managing the team. You will project manage this Programme, coordinate interdisciplinary teams of experts and collaborate with stakeholders, advisory groups, and international partners.

You will monitor and support defined project scopes, objectives, and timelines in relation to MBIE milestones, ensuring progress at different research stages, and manage budgets in consultation with Principal investigators, and other key staff.

You will foster an inclusive and diverse work environment, ensuring the inclusion of Māori perspectives and contributions in line with Vision Mātauranga principles.

Mōu | Who You Are

You hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as biotechnology, biochemistry, aerospace engineering, or equivalent industry experience. You have:

  • Programme management experience, particularly in leading interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage complex, multi-stage research and development projects.
  • Experience and networks across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and/or aerospace industry are an advantage.
  • Business development experience, especially in relation to biotechnology and/or aerospace tech transfer and commercialisation, is an advantage.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse University administrators and stakeholders, including Māori partners.
