Job Description:
Summary:
The undergraduate student will support the Department of Economics
front office operations. The student will assist with basic office
support, handle front-desk duties, and assist faculty with various
tasks as needed. All undergraduate AU students with Federal Work
Study award are eligible to apply for this position.
Essential Functions:
- Perform general duties including scanning, copying, and
printing.
- Staff the front desk during scheduled shifts.
- Answer and route calls from the main phone line.
- Deliver mail and supplies to mail room and offices as
necessary.
- Stock supplies.
- Assist with walk-ins and direct to appropriate services or
contacts.
- Support any special projects or tasks as assigned by the
Department Chair and Department Administrative Coordinator.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 5 hours per week.
Salary Range:
Required Education and Experience:
- Current American University student enrolled in undergraduate
program.
- Student must have an active Federal Work Study (FWS)
Award.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Position requires customer service focus and communication
skills and the ability to interact with students, faculty, and
staff.
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential
information appropriately.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- This position is available only to enrolled American University
undergraduate students.
- Flexibility to work during the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM Monday -
Friday.
- All AU undergraduate students with a Federal Work Study award
are eligible to apply for this position.
