Education Outreach Program Coordinator
Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director the Education Programs Coordinator will provide critical mission support for high quality educational engagement, outreach activities, and community and external relations for the Community Folk Art Centers (CFAC) presenting series and special projects. Primary duties include but are not limited to enhancing arts education and community relations related projects and initiatives; proactively coordinating the creation of promotional materials for educational and community programs; coordinating project teams, documenting and monitoring project goals and outcomes, engaging faculty, and providing event support as needed. The position will also participate in planning and implementing the integration of CFACs programming activities into the College of Arts and Sciences and Syracuse University academics, programs and groups, in addition to local schools and community organizations through strategic and coordinated planning and communication.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in arts education, Performing or Visual Arts or related degree and 3-5 years of experience in arts administration or related work experience required. This position works with minors.
- Successful completion of a standard criminal background check is required.

- Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and university budget systems (FAB) preferred.
- Ability to work some nights and weekends based on assigned work schedule, projects and performance schedules.
Responsibilities
- Enhancing and modifying programs Community Folk Art Center (CFAC). Planning and implementation of educational programs focused on but not restricted to: increasing exhibitions, film screenings, gallery talks, workshops and courses in the studio, the Creative Arts Academy (CAA), performing and expressive arts for CFAC and engaging youth and University audiences.
- Executing assigned education and outreach planning goals from CFAC Executive Director, enhancing plans and projects for best results.
- Assembling project teams with CFAC, community partners (incl. local schools, libraries, youth programs); coordinating meetings; assisting with goal creation, outcomes, and next steps.
- Coordinating advertising and marketing materials in collaboration with CFACs marketing outreach coordinator.
- Recruiting programs, negotiating terms, scheduling events, and managing registration for events.
- Providing onsite assistance and ensuring that education materials are provided to supplement artistic exhibitions, catalogues, dramaturgical notes for performances, and providing excellent research to support those activities.
- Manage, coordinate and enhance educational activities connecting CFAC and other special initiatives such as SU Wellness, public libraries, and education directors at regional arts/cultural centers to Syracuse University academics; increasing University student attendance, and support institutional strategic plans.
- Planning of educational and performance activities in advance of the next fiscal year.
- Coordinating team meetings, assisting with goal creation, tracking of outcomes and next steps.
- Support arts engagement and audience development.
- Designing and implementing public and community educational programs such as lectures, symposia, etc.
- Track the effectiveness of outreach efforts and program participation. Provide regular reports and feedback to CFAC leadership on outreach outcomes and community impact.
- Updating and implementing CFAC collections management procedures including online database.
- Assist in identifying potential donors and sponsors. Support fundraising initiatives through outreach efforts and community engagement
- Identifying areas of collaboration with community-based arts organizations and with the schools and colleges at Syracuse University.
- Implement policies and procedures to achieve programming goals set by the Executive Director.
- Assist in supervision of student employees and a limited number of temporary employees.
