About the role
The Residential Services Accountant supports the Manager Treasury in financial management and analysis, residential system accounting and reporting and associated tasks. This role will ensure financial information is timely, accurate and compliant with all relevant University policies and requirements and provide advice and support to key stakeholders delivering a high level of customer service. The Residential Services Accountant assists in developing and maintaining documented procedures for the business unit. The position reports to the Manager Treasury and works closely with the UNE Residential Services Specialist and the Director UNE Residential System.

You bring valuable experience in a financial accounting role, with specific knowledge of accounting procedures for residential colleges or the hospitality industry. Your expertise in analytical thinking and problem solving along with proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, financial management systems and tools, is highly valued. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client service skills are essential as you will interact with students, colleagues, and management, catering to both internal and external stakeholders.
You are a driven professional with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. You take ownership of your work, demonstrating accountability and delivering high-quality results. When you see a problem, you own it, actively seek solutions, and work hard to resolve it. You embrace learning opportunities and view feedback as a chance for growth. As a team player, you appreciate diverse perspectives and thrive in collaborative environments. While holding a CA or CPA qualification is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Your assistance with general accounting functions, including reconciliations, debtor management, student accounts, and related processes, will be greatly beneficial. Your talent for driving process improvements will also be highly valued.
In this role, you will closely collaborate with the UNE Residential Services Specialist, the Director UNE Residential System, the UNE Finance team, and other internal and external business partners. Additionally, you will manage daily credit card and bank reconciliations.
