EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER - DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
The College of Education and Social Services at the University of Vermont invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position in Educational Foundations to teach multiple sections of the Catamount Core course EDFS 1010 Race and Racism beginning in Fall 2026, at the rank of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer.
We seek an outstanding educational foundations instructor in the area of race and education. Qualified candidates will have teaching experience in postsecondary settings, research work in the study of race and education, and will work primarily with undergraduate students. We are particularly interested in individuals with a justice-centered approach to pedagogy and doctoral research in the subject area of race and education.

The Department
The Department of Education is widely recognized for its rigorous academic research, high-quality student experience, innovative teaching practices, and collegial, inclusive work environment. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs in preK – 12 educator preparation, curriculum and instruction, special education, higher education and student affairs, educational leadership and policy studies, and interdisciplinary studies. In addition, we offer undergraduate minors in computer science education, cultural and linguistic diversity, special education, and coaching.
The Community
UVM is located in Burlington, Vermont, which is rated as one of the best small cities in the country. The greater Burlington area has an increasingly diverse population of about 125,000 and enjoys a panoramic setting on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Responsibilities:
The successful candidate at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level will assume a range of responsibilities that include:
- Teaching multiple sections of EDFS 1010 Race and Racism, a Catamount Core course open to all UVM students and taught in person;
- Working with other faculty to continue to refine the course with colleagues, as well as potentially contribute to other educational foundations courses;
- Collaborating with the Department of Education faculty and staff in departmental governance and service;
- Engaging in service activities at the college, university, regional, state, and national levels.
Qualifications:
Required:
- M.Ed. in educational studies with a focus on race or related field or equivalent;
- Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level; Commitment to inclusive excellence and UVM’s Our Common Ground principles; strong collegial, communication, and collaborative teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Ed.D. or PhD in educational studies with a focus on race or related field or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of college-level teaching experience;
- Experience developing core undergraduate courses;
- Experience with large and small undergraduate courses
SALARY RANGE (9 Mo):
Lecturer: $58,500-$62,000
Senior Lecturer: $67,000-$70,000
Salary determinations based upon experience and qualifications.
