Summary of Position

Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) is seeking a qualified Instructor to teach in the Electrical Industrial/Commercial (EIC) program. This role involves providing high-quality instruction in alignment with RRCC and Colorado Community College System (CCCS) standards. The instructor will teach assigned courses, assess student performance, and contribute to the overall success of the program. Instructional delivery may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online, and may include day, evening, or weekend classes.

The ideal candidate will be a Colorado-licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician with recent, relevant industry experience and a deep understanding of electrical code applications and calculations. The instructor must be able to engage a diverse student population, apply effective teaching strategies, and adapt course content to meet varied learning needs. Key responsibilities include preparing class materials, maintaining accurate grading in D2L, submitting final grades in Banner, and responding to students and staff within 24-48 hours.

Instructors must demonstrate professionalism, respect, and patience, while setting clear expectations for academic performance. Attendance at department meetings and communication with the department chair are also required.

The schedule is weekdays from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with some responsibilities potentially occurring outside of these hours. The role may require up to 28 hours per week for a duration of up to 9 months, depending on departmental need and budget. The finalist must designate Colorado as their primary work location, including for any online instruction.

The compensation for this position is $1,177.73 to $1,826.60/credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt temporary staff position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Colorado Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician
  • Extensive experience applying electrical code requirements
  • Extensive experience with electrical code calculations including, but not limited to: lighting, motor, feeder and service loads; box and conductor fill; conductor sizing and OCPD calculations; voltage drop; and neutral loads.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualifies for post-secondary CTE credential including 4000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in a classroom environment and uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Pay
The compensation for this position is $1,177.73 to $1,826.60/credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt temporary staff position.
