Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, performs highly skilled electrical duties required to maintain and repair campus-wide electrical systems. Installs electrical equipment and remodels existing electrical services to support campus departments.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Requires job related accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

- Journeyman Electrician Certification
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and other electric documents.
- Understand written, oral instructions and use a computer.
- Able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, coworkers, vendors, and contractors.
Job Duties
Building Electrical Maintenance & Repair (35%): Maintain and repair electrical systems within assigned facilities, including panels, branch circuits, lighting, and connected equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues using established procedures and code requirements.
Support to Projects & Senior Staff (10%): Assist senior electricians and supervisors with project work by providing field input, performing installations, and supporting system testing and commissioning.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation (10%): Ensure all work complies with NEC and institutional standards. Maintain accurate work records and follow all safety procedures.
Installation & Renovation Work (30%): Install conduit, wiring, and electrical components to support renovations and equipment installations. Modify existing building systems to accommodate load changes under established designs and direction.
Work Order Execution & Troubleshooting (15%): Independently receive, diagnose, and complete work orders related to building electrical systems. Escalate complex or system-level issues as appropriate.
