The University of Texas Permian Basin's Physical Plant welcomes applications for the position of Electrician / Maintenance Worker III.

Salary Range

$70,000.00 depending on qualifications.

Essential Functions

The Electrician - Maintenance Worker III plays an essential role in the Physical Plant department, responsible for installing new electrical systems, performing repairs, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical components across UTPB's Odessa and Midland campuses. This position works closely with maintenance staff, building managers, and other campus departments to address both routine and urgent electrical needs, while occasionally assisting with related maintenance tasks such as water heater installation. The role supports preventive maintenance efforts, completes assigned work orders promptly, and participates in the on-call rotation to maintain uninterrupted campus operations.   • Perform various maintenance duties with a focus on electrical

  • On call rotation will be required after 6 month probationary period

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Tten (10) years' experience in electrical
  • Possess State of Texas Electrician license
  • Possess organizational skills and able to communicate effectively
  • Possess a clean and valid Texas driver's license for at least three (3) years
  • Ability to follow safety precautions. Job may entail moderate exposure to chemical, environmental, and various other hazards that require strict adherence to procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fifteen (15) years' experience in electrical
  • Combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English as well as perform basic mathematical computations

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

  • Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
  • Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
  • Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
  • Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
  • Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
