Description
Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks an Electrician to perform journey-level electrical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical systems and equipment for institutional facilities on 750-volt and below systems. This position maintains interior wiring, power and communication circuits, panels, motors, and related electrical components to ensure safe and reliable campus operations. Work includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, replacing components, interpreting blueprints and specifications, performing preventative maintenance, and developing preliminary cost estimates for installations and repairs. This position reports to the Maintenance Specialist 4.

Primary Responsibilities
- Install, modify, maintain, and repair interior wiring, cables, power circuits, communication circuits, switches, controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, and distribution systems;
- Install, adjust, maintain, and repair electric motors, generators, and electrical equipment such as pumps, fans, lamps, stoves, timers, meters, clocks, and power tools;
- Troubleshoot, inspect, and repair electrical and communication systems to identify and correct faulty components;
- Replace worn or damaged parts, including motor and generator components such as bearings;
- Perform alterations, adjustments, installations, and modifications to electrical systems and equipment;
- Construct, install, and repair electrical systems and components based on blueprints and technical specifications;
- Develop preliminary cost estimates for electrical installations, repairs, and modifications;
- Drive service vehicles as required, and load, unload, and transport materials and supplies;
- May participate in a rotating standby schedule; assist and coordinate work with other trades personnel; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician or a four (4) year Union Apprenticeship (IBEW) or full journey status as an electrician in a union or four (4) years of applicable work experience; Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis;
- Certification as a General Electrical Journeyman; EL01 License;
- Valid and continuing Washington State Electrical License/Certificate; and
- Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license or ability to obtain one before date of hire.
