Sequoias Community College District is seeking a qualified and equity-minded candidate to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in the Industry and Technology Department beginning August 2026. This position is located on the Tulare Campus.
Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of the Sequoias Community College District Campuses: Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.
*College of the Sequoias offers lecture-lab pay parity, as well as overload and large lecture compensation that may be additional.

Job Duties
Job duties of the Electrician Training Instructor include:
The faculty member will provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations and is responsible for curriculum design and updates as well as creation and tracking of student learning objectives. They will take the lead for growing and maintaining program enrollment through such activities as student recruitment, serving as an advisor to student organizations and engaging with high school programs that are involved in relevant pathways. The instructor also will work with industry through advisories, taskforces, or committees to connect the program and students with job and internship opportunities as well as maintain the currency of the program.
Other responsibilities include participation in the governance of the college via committee assignments, maintenance of a required number of office hours to meet student needs, full participation in departmental responsibilities, and the willingness to create and/or participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity, justice, and appreciation for diversity throughout our college.
Qualifications
The candidate must meet the following criteria.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related subject area, AND two years of related, current experience OR
- An Associate degree from an acceptable accredited institution AND six (6) years occupational experience OR
- The equivalent AND
JOB REQUIRED CORE SYSTEM COMPETENCY
The candidate must also demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5 §53022.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in and/or commitment to working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomics, academic and disability backgrounds.
- NCCER Certified or willing and capable of gaining certification immediately.
- State-licensed professional in electrical fields.
- Training and practical experience in all aspects of the Electrician profession relating to commercial and residential wiring.
- Evidence of the ability to involve students in practical applications of instruction as it is related to the industry.
- Teaching and training experience.
- Knowledge and experience in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sound pedagogy and adult teaching techniques that contribute to student learning and engagement.
