The Employer Relations Coordinator is responsible for strategically sourcing, cultivating, and maintaining a strong network of relationships with employers at local, regional, national, and global levels. The Employer Relations Coordinator serves as the primary recruiter for multiple assigned industries and serves multiple Schools/Colleges at Liberty, and supports the Assistant Director of Employer Relations with additional special projects as needed. Employer Relations Coordinators (ERCs) work with employers and recruiters to evaluate and determine the most effective and valuable methods to source and connect with the immensely talented students and alumni produced by Liberty University. The result of this work is expanded and enhanced career and job opportunities for students and alumni; and contribute to the expansion and growth of Career Services' initiative to develop improved and extended services for employers, students, and alumni. ERCs are responsible for recruiting employers to join Liberty's Handshake network, and subsequently post their jobs on Handshake and participate in on-campus events such as Career Fairs, Information Sessions, Experience Events, and Employer On-Sites.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Approve or Decline employers requesting approval to Liberty's Handshake network as assigned.
  • Manage relationships with employers and faculty as it pertains to industries and career fairs assigned.
  • Maintain relationships with currently engaged employers and their recruiters for industries as assigned.
  • Develop strategies and methods of recruitment that entice employers to participate in events on-campus.
  • Contributes to the organization, logistics, and delivery of designated industry-specific career fairs and recruiting activities.
  • Collaborate with Career Coaches to identify the knowledge, skills, talents, and experience that students bring to the workplace, and to identify employers that will produce valuable and scalable opportunities for students.
  • Communicate with Career Coaches to inform them about employers and job opportunities in assigned industries so that they may highlight and promote them to students and faculty when applicable.
  • Communicate with The Fellowship Coordinator about employers and job opportunities in DC.
  • Build partnerships on-campus and between the university and external communities as appropriate to develop relationships and employment opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Advise employers on strategies for successful recruiting at Liberty via Handshake and on-campus events.
  • Work with employers to develop marketing strategies to enhance their brand and presence on-campus.
  • Recruit and coordinate employer involvement in Career Fairs, Experience Events, Information Sessions, and Employer On-Sites, as well as workshops/programs, class presentations, and other recruiting activities that contribute to students' career development and enhance employers' brand on campus.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.

Employer Relations Coordinator I

  • Target and cultivate relationships with new and emerging employers in assigned industries to introduce them to Liberty University, identify employment opportunities, recruit employers to on-campus events, and strengthen communication between employers, Career Services, students, alumni, and faculty.
  • Collaborate with ERC II and ERC III staff and members of the University community to support employer engagement, increase visibility, and expand recruiting opportunities for students and alumni.

Employer Relations Coordinator II

  • Target and cultivate relationships with new employers in assigned industries to introduce them to Liberty University, identify employment opportunities, recruit employers to on-campus events, and strengthen communication between employers, Career Services, students, alumni and faculty
  • Collaborate with ERC I, ERC III and others in the university community when appropriate to maximize visibility and opportunities for relationship-building among employers, students, and the university.

Employer Relations Coordinator III

  • Actively serve as a mentor to ERC I and II staff members as designated by the Assistant Director of Employer Relations supporting professional development and recruiting effectiveness
  • Develop expertise in event management to include relationship building with Events team, College leaders, and administrative staff.
  • Serve as a trainer to new ERC staff and a mentor to all ERC staff to include employer relations and recruitment strategies.
  • Develop innovative teaching tools on networking, professional skills, and use of the platform Handshake.
  • Collaborate and train the ERC team in effort to develop and implement employer-focused outreach to the community surrounding Liberty University.
  • Train team in efforts to target and cultivate relationships with new employers in assigned industries to introduce them to Liberty University, with instruction identify employment opportunities, recruit to on-campus events, and strengthen connections/communications between employers, Career Services, students, alumni and faculty
  • Mentor ERC team in collaborating with others in the university community when appropriate to maximize visibility and opportunities for relationship-building among employers, students, and the university.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Employer Relations Coordinator I

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 1-2 years of experience in business, business development, sales or account management related field
  • Experience in higher education, Career Services, Talent Acquisition, or University Recruiting a plus

Employer Relations Coordinator II

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • One of the following levels of experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in a business, business development, sales, or account management related field
    • 2-3 years of experience in a business, business development, sales, or account management related field, and/or 1-2 years of established experience as an Employer Relations Coordinator I with Liberty University Career Services
  • Experience in higher education, Career Services, Talent Acquisition, or University Recruiting a plus

Employer Relations Coordinator III

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • One of the following levels of experience:
    • 5-7 years of experience in a business, business development, sales, or account management related field
    • 5+ years of experience in a business, business development, sales, or account management related field, and/or 3+ years of established experience as an Employer Relations Coordinator II with Liberty University Career Services
  • Experience in higher education, Career Services, Talent Acquisition, or University Recruiting a plus

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

Communication and Comprehension

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally (in person and via phone) and in writing to convey clear, concise, and well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University and Career Services to a variety of university, business, government, and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent event management and computer skills.

Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (most importantly Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly and proficiently.

Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business, and lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver's license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.
