At James Cook University (JCU), our HR team is building something exciting, and we are seeking an enthusiastic, agile and customer focused Talent Acquisition Advisor to join our HR Partnerships team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team designed with people at its centre. You’ll help shape a modern, responsive and trusted Talent Acquisition service that supports staff across the University and delivers a seamless experience at every stage of the employee lifecycle.

If you thrive on supporting others, embrace change with confidence, and enjoy finding smart, practical solutions, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

As a Talent Acquisition Advisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering end to end, data-informed talent acquisition and workforce planning solutions in close partnership with leaders across the University.

From workforce planning and job design through to attraction, selection and onboarding, you will support leaders to identify current and future workforce needs, align recruitment strategies to organisational priorities, and build sustainable talent pipelines. Your work will directly contribute to strengthening organisational capability, improving equity outcomes, and enhancing the employee experience.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor, coaching and supporting leaders to make informed, forward-looking workforce and talent decisions. You will ensure recruitment practices are compliant, inclusive and future-focused, while contributing to broader workforce and organisational initiatives.

This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, values collaboration, and is motivated to deliver both immediate recruitment outcomes and longer-term workforce planning impact.

What you’ll bring

You are a proactive and thoughtful Talent Acquisition professional who blends strong operational excellence with strategic insight. You’ll bring:

  • Relevant HR qualifications and experience delivering contemporary talent acquisition services
  • Strong knowledge of workforce planning principles, including the ability to partner with leaders to forecast workforce needs, identify capability gaps, and align recruitment strategies to organisational priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in job design, attraction strategies, selection methodologies, and pre-employment screening
  • Experience using e-recruitment systems, reporting, and recruitment analytics to generate workforce insights and support data-driven decision-making
  • The ability to manage end-to-end recruitment campaigns while contributing to broader workforce and organisational change initiatives
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, coaching, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide leaders in workforce planning and talent decisions
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities confidently
  • Knowledge of visa, sponsorship, and relocation processes (highly regarded)
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to a team that values respect, learning, innovation, and continuous improvement
