Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Employment Specialist will be responsible for connecting to and maintaining relationships with local and state vocational training resources, such as Mass Ability. DDS, Career Services, etc. The ideal candidate will have a background in working with intellectually disabled students. The Employment Specialist will also develop Person-Centered-Plans with students incorporating Work Based Learning (WBL) goals and internship opportunities on campus. The ability to collaborate with local vocational resources is essential to assist in job placements.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Ongoing communication with Mass Ability caseworkers, DDS caseworkers, and vocational placement resources.
  2. Develop student Person-Centered-Plans (PCP's) and monitor/evaluate progress.
  3. Prepare student evaluation reports and data collection.
  4. Attend student conferences as needed.
  5. Attend all MAIHE staff meetings and DHE Coordinator meetings as assigned.
  6. Act as liaison with vocational resources and MAIHE Program Coordinator

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree with experience and or training involving students with intellectual disabilities.
  2. Proficiency with computers and technology.
  3. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  4. Interpersonal effectiveness in working with students and staff.
  5. Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  6. Proficiency using technology in an educational setting.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in Vocational Counseling, Special Education, Career Counseling.
  2. Experience working with students in district transition programs or Inclusive Post Secondary Education.
  3. Experience working in a college setting.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting pay rate of $35.31 per hour (Interval 1). Part-time position, with up to 18 hours per week through the Academic Year. Non-benefited, grant funded MCCC Unit position.
