  • Remuneration: $122,852 to $134,385 pa (HEW7) (inclusive of $103,811 to $113,557 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
  • Location: Kelvin Grove (hybrid option available)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Engineer, Software (Digital Learning and Research) to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.

The Engineer, Software will be responsible for the development and support of application solutions that align with the University’s business objectives and goals to support students, researchers, learning and teaching staff. The role will work in partnership with clients, vendor partners and other IT professionals to ensure an integrated approach to the development of new enterprise solutions and the ongoing maintenance and improvement of existing services. The work undertaken by this team is critical to driving business efficiencies. The appointee may be required to be contactable and/or work outside of standard business hours on occasion. These instances will be treated in accordance with the relevant provisions in the Enterprise Agreement for Professional Staff. This position reports to the Team Leader, Digital Learning and Research Systems in the Education and Research Portfolio for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or experience equivalent to completion of a degree, together with subsequent relevant experience in software design within an information technology area.
  2. Demonstrated experience contributing to a team as a technical expert and implementing improvement strategies that support effective response to client needs and organisation goals. 
  3. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience in identifying and conceptualising client requirements; and designing, developing, implementing and deploying solutions using contemporary technologies. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to maintain productive and collaborative working relationships, including the ability to develop and present concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders and negotiate with influence. 
  5. Proven planning and organisational skills, with experience establishing own and workflow priorities, and working across a diverse number of initiatives within tight and competing timelines. 
  6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting SaaS and on-premises solutions, including proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices, and a variety of programming languages, automation tools and cloud technologies.
