Texas A&M University-Victoria is in the process of gaining approval for undergraduate programs in software engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering programs, with a focus on the intersections between these disciplines. The programs are anticipated to be open for enrollment Fall 2027. We invite applications for a Program Coordinator to oversee the development, launch, and growth of these programs.
The Program Coordinator for Engineering reports to the Dean of the College of Natural and Applied Science, working within the Department of Engineering and Aviation Sciences. The incumbent must maintain strong collaborative relationships with the community and across the university, including the Division of Enrollment Management and the Student Success Center.
This is a non-tenure-track, renewable, 12-month faculty appointment with the title Professor of Practice located in Victoria, Texas. Rank (e.g., Assistant, Associate, or Full) and compensation will be commensurate with experience. This position is full-time and eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, disability, and tuition remission. The preferred start date is April 1, 2026, but may be negotiable.
Duties and Responsibilities
The individual in this role will serve as a point of contact for Texas A&M University-Victoria, with primary focus on engineering programs. More specifically, the individual selected will be expected to:
- Teach classes in service of A&M-Victoria engineering programs, in line with academic credentials and professional experience. Teaching assignments will include face-to-face classes in Victoria, Texas.
- Promote A&M-Victoria engineering programs in the greater Victoria region in collaboration with the Division of Enrollment Management.
- Direct and oversee the development and equipping of necessary lab and classroom teaching spaces for the proposed engineering degrees.
- Be responsible for administrative matters of the department, including teaching, laboratory and research facilities; class rotations and scheduling; budget; and equipment.
- Maintain good working relationships with the Independent School Districts and community colleges in Victoria and the surrounding area, as well as with industry partners in the region.
- Advise students interested in admission to A&M-Victoria for study in engineering.
- Coordinate with the Center for Student Success to ensure that engineering students receive academic advising necessary to foster academic success.
- Participate in student activities and campus life and facilitate mentoring for engineering students with industry professionals.
- Engage in philanthropic development and community engagement in collaboration with the Office of University Advancement.
- Actively participate in affairs of the University, including assisting the engineering programs achieve and maintain ABET program accreditation.
- Coordinate with the Career Development Center to develop industry partnerships beneficial to A&M-Victoria and the engineering programs.
- Perform other duties as may be necessary and assigned.

Required Qualifications
This individual will be employed by Texas A&M University-Victoria and will teach face-to-face classes within the academic programs of the University. Therefore, they will need to satisfy the expectations of SACSCOC and ABET in terms of academic credentials, as well as all other employment qualifications of the University. Further, the successful candidate for this position should have the following qualifications:
- A master’s degree in engineering or engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program
- Industrial design experience is expected
- Demonstrated sensitivity to students from a wide range of academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as students with disabilities
- Demonstrated leadership ability to lead faculty and support faculty governance
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of professional, community, and student populations
- Ability to plan and conduct activities that raise the profile of the A&M-Victoria engineering programs within the community and industry
- Self-discipline with good organizational and planning skills and able to effectively manage others.
Preferred Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in engineering
- Current licensure as a professional engineer (mechanical or civil) is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of ABET accreditation and experience leading a program through accreditation
- Prior classroom teaching experience in a higher education setting
