Founded in 1984 as Türkiye’s first private, non-profit university, Bilkent University has quickly established itself as a major research center for research and teaching, attracting world-renowned scholars to faculty and many of the very best high school graduates to its study body. The university consists of nine faculties, six graduate schools (institutes), and thirteen research centers.

The medium of instruction for all courses (except for Turkish law) is English. The faculty is comprised of academic staff from over 37 different countries. The university seeks for English Language Instructors for its Academic English Program (ENG) and the English Language Preparatory Program (PREP). These are non-tenure track positions with an initial contract of two years, renewable annually upon mutual agreement.

The Preparatory Program (PREP) is an intensive English language program designed to equip students with the necessary academic skills and language proficiency required for successful transition into their chosen departments. The program aims to foster critical thinking skills, communication skills and effective learning strategies.

The Academic English Program (ENG) provides English academic skills courses to help students analyze academic texts with depth and precision, compose well-structured essays and research papers, conduct independent research, develop critical thinking and engage in meaningful discussions, and refine their language proficiency for academic and professional success.

Ideal candidates will have:

• a Master’s degree* in TEFL, TESOL, education, English or a related field or
• a minimum of two years relevant teaching experience at tertiary/ university level
• teaching qualifications (CELTA, DELTA, TESOL Certificate etc.)
• good interpersonal and organizational skills
• adaptability and flexibility
• experience in designing curricula and materials
• preferably experience living abroad

*Exceptionally qualified / experienced candidates without a Master’s degree may also be given consideration
