Entry Level Histotechnologist
Job Summary
The Department of Pathology is excited to recruit a full-time (1.0 FTE) entry-level Histotechnologist at the rank of Healthcare Entry Professional. The entry-level histotechnologist will process whole mount prostate, prostate mapping biopsies, and other types of specimens received in the Histology Subspeciality Laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical – 60%
- Gross description and dissection of whole prostate specimens, prostate mapping biopsy specimens.
- CMOCO only biopsy tissue samples.
- Reprocessing of FFPI tissue samples for Electron Microscopy.
- Paraffin Embedding of large format and biopsy tissue samples.
- Microtomy sectioning of tissue samples.
- Staining and cover slipping of tissue samples
Administrative – 20%
- Manual tracking of patient tissue samples.
- Maintenance of supply inventory.
Compliance and operational – 20%
- Cleaning and organization of workstations
- Disposal of biological waste.
- Changing solutions in tissue processors.
- Adherence to all operational maintenance requirements.
Work Location: Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
