This is a full-time, fixed-term position through to December 2026 with salary in the range $82,133 - $91,295 (HEW 5), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

Based predominately at UQ Brisbane City, 308 Queen Street with 1-2 days per week spent at St Lucia.

About This Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Event Sales Coordinator to join the professional UQ Venues Team for Patina at Alumni Court and UQ Brisbane City venues. This role works between UQ St Lucia campus and UQ Brisbane City to plan events across both locations. This role is responsible for securing, planning and co-ordinating events including conferences, seminars and weddings for corporate, University and private clients. To achieve growth and financial success of UQ Venues and to maintain the reputation of UQ Venues as Brisbane’s premier event spaces.

We aim to exceed clients’ expectations and ensure that every function is a success hence maintaining the reputation of UQ Venues as premier function venues by the University of Queensland and contributing to the growth and success of the organisational unit.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Handle all event inquiries and sales leads, including conducting site inspections, preparing detailed proposals with quotes, and liaising directly with clients. You will be responsible for organising events from start to finish.
  • Work closely with the operational teams at Customs House, UQ Brisbane City, and Patina at Alumni Court to prepare and distribute event manifests and detailed schedules.
  • You will also coordinate with external suppliers and attend regular operations meetings.
  • Assist the accounts section with financial tasks, including preparing pro-forma invoices, checking supplier invoices, and helping with payments to ensure the financial success of the venues.
  • Liaise with the Chef, Banquet Operations, and Accounts sections to ensure all aspects of the events are covered.
  • You will also provide support to your supervisor and the Director of UQ Venues as required.

Please note you will be required to have flexibility with work hours due to the nature of this role.

About You

  • Qualifications with at least two years' experience in a similar position within the hospitality industry is essential.
  • Demonstrated customer-oriented focus with a commitment to excellence and professionalism. You must have superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to build productive client relationships and effectively negotiate with difficult and challenging clients.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills with a high level of accuracy and productivity. You must be able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, meet daily deadlines, and work flexibly to achieve objectives.
  • Well-developed computer skills, with proven experience using event management software. You should have the ability to work both independently and as a contributing member of a team.
