About us
The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. The School is based in the East Wing of Somerset House on King's Strand Campus in London. About the role
We run a varied events programme with approximately 150 public events each year ranging from public lectures, workshops to multi day events either in person or online.
We are seeking to appoint an Events & Engagement Manager to manage and develop our events portfolio. The role holder will be responsible for management of our events and public engagement activities ensuring the provision of an excellent end to end support.
This role requires on-campus attendance to support our events programme. We are looking for someone with a pro-active, can-do attitude and the role will suit someone who thrives on working with people.
Excellent organisation skills, staying calm under pressure and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines is essential.
This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post, offered to you on an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent significant work experience
- Significant experience in organising and running events, event management and logistics
- Proven project management skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, ability to manage own workload in a busy environment with tight deadlines
- Accurate and methodical approach to work
- Experience in working with different stakeholders, developing, and utilising networks
- Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal working hours including evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of using online registration platforms, web content management systems and social media to effectively manage, market and promote events.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with complex material to write accessible promotional copy
- Experience in line management and staff development
- Experience of working with audio-visual teams, to brief requirements and troubleshoot any issues
- Experience of working within the Higher Education sector
- Experience of using Microsoft Teams and Dynamics platforms to run events, registrations and track customer engagement
