Exams and Timetabling Coordinator

Exams and Timetabling Coordinator

The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint an Examinations and Timetabling Coordinator to oversee undergraduate assessments - from exam preparation to delivery - as well as to manage complex lecture and exam timetables on behalf of the Department.

The post will join a team providing administrative support for the Undergraduate Office, supervising the work pertaining to examination, assessment and timetabling. The Office administers undergraduate and postgraduate examinations; handles internal and external queries relating to admissions, examinations and Faculty business; maintains key documentation including the lecture timetable; and provides administrative support to the Secretary of the Faculty Board. The post holder will also act as a deputy for the Undergraduate Office Manager when needed.

The successful applicant should be educated to degree level or level 6 vocational qualification, or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Previous experience of administrative work is essential, as is an advanced knowledge of examination and/or course coordination.

The post holder will be an experienced and confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint, and confidence in managing, manipulating and presenting data will be an advantage. They will also be a competent user of databases, for inputting, retrieving and summarising information, and will have familiarity with web editing, or be willing to learn. They will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, specialist scientific applications, such as TeX and LaTeX, and University systems (in particular, the University's student records system, CamSIS, and Moodle).

Excellent organisational and communication skills and attention to detail are a must, together with a confident approach, tact in dealing with people at all levels, and the ability and willingness to work on your own initiative and within a team. Experience of supervising others is desirable.
