Executive Director, Institutional Advancement

Non-Unit Professional position, 37.5 hours/week

Campus Location: Danvers with some work in Lynn

SALARY: Salary range $110,000.00 - $115,000.00. The offered salary will be commensurate with experience and education but will not exceed the stated range. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement provides strategic leadership, vision, and operational oversight for North Shore Community College's (NSCC) advancement initiatives. This position is directly responsible for achieving institutional fundraising and grant development goals, securing financial resources to support the College's mission and strategic priorities. The Executive Director supervises advancement and grants staff, manages the College's partnership with the NSCC Foundation, and ensures accountability through ethical practices, measurable outcomes, and data-driven decision-making

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Fundraising Leadership & Goal Achievement

  • Lead and be accountable for achieving annual and multi-year fundraising and grant revenue goals set in collaborations with the President, Senior Executive Officer, and Foundation Director.
  • Expand and diversify the College's Donor base while deepening relationships with existing donors demonstrating year-over-year growth in donor numbers, donor retention rates, and total dollar raised.
  • Drive the strategy and execution of alumni relations, campaigns, appeals, events, and major gift solicitations ensuring each program, campaign or appeal meets its established goals.

Staff Supervision & Department Oversight

  • Supervise and hold accountable the Director of Grants, Director of Development, and Development Assistant in meeting departmental fundraising and grant goals.
  • Oversee daily operations of Resource Development and Grants planning to ensure fundraising and grant outcomes are met.

Foundation & Fiscal Alignment

  • Provide leadership and operational support for the NSCC Foundation and its committees to achieve annual fundraising and stewardship goals.
  • Partner with the Fiscal Office to ensure transparent financial processes, including gift processing, banking, reporting and audits.

Compliance & Ethical Standards

  • Ensure all fundraising and grant activities adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as NSCC and Foundation policies.

Data Systems & Technology

  • Lead the implementation and optimization of Blackbaud CRM to strengthen donor and grant management to include 100% adoption rate among Advancement staff in year one.
  • Leverage institutional tools (Blackboard, Zogotech, Navigate, Tableau) to gather data, inform fundraising strategy, and measure success.

Marketing & Communications

  • Collaborate with Strategic Communications to create and implement Advancement and Foundation marketing strategies that drive giving.

Grant Management

  • Lead coordination of pre-award grant processes to ensure successful grant applications and compliance.
  • Work in collaboration with IR and Grants to prepare and submit the annual Voluntary Support of Educations (VSE) survey.

Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within Advancement and across NSCC

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties necessary to advance fundraising success and support NSCC's mission.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Senior Executive Officer, President's Office

Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree required; minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in higher education or nonprofit advancement.
  • Proven track record of achieving fundraising and grant development goals, with measurable results in annual revenue generation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fundraising management, including budget oversight, financial procurement, HR, and administration.
  • Experience in grant development, data analysis, and performance measurement.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (preferably Blackbaud), Microsoft Office (Excel and Access), and Tableau.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage donors, Board members, and community partners.
  • Prior supervisory experience required, with demonstrated ability to set performance goals and hold staff accountable.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
