Experimental Physics Position in Nonlinear Optics
Job Description:
Field: Nonlinear Optics, Second Harmonic Generation, Optical Benches, etc.
Experimental Responsibilities: Lead experiments on nonlinear optical phenomena, particularly second harmonic generation, and explore related topics such as third-order nonlinearities, optical parametric amplification, multi-photon absorption, Kerr effect, nonlinear waveguiding, plasmon-enhanced nonlinearities, and quantum optics. Design and implement experimental setups to test and analyze the nonlinear behavior of materials using optical benches. Supervise students conducting hands-on experiments to study and develop nonlinear optical materials for various applications, including photonic devices.
Teaching Responsibilities: Introduction to Optics: Basics of light propagation, wave optics, interference, diffraction, and polarization. Advanced Optics: Nonlinear optics, optical phenomena in advanced materials, and their applications in real-world devices. Experimental Optics: Hands-on laboratory sessions to design, perform, and analyze optical experiments. Research Methods in Optics: Introduction to experimental techniques and data analysis in optical research.
Requirements:
- PhD in Experimental Physics, with a focus on nonlinear optics.
- Experience in experimental research on nonlinear optical materials and optical characterization techniques.
- Familiarity with the design and operation of optical benches and spectroscopic equipment.
- Teaching Skills: Ability to teach at various levels (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral) and use modern pedagogical methods.
- Research Skills: Ability to conduct high-impact and independent research and contribute to collaborative projects.
- Communication Skills: Excellent skills in communicating research findings to diverse audiences, writing scientific papers, and presenting at conferences.
- Languages: Proficiency in scientific English (both oral and written).
