Join UniSQ’s Casual Technical Officer Pool
Bring your hands-on expertise and support exceptional learning experiences! We’re seeking casual Technical Officers across Engineering, Life Sciences and Creative Arts to support practical teaching, maintain specialist facilities and help students bring ideas to life.
We’re building a pool of Casual Technical Officers who can step in to support practical classes, specialist facilities, and hands-on teaching across our university.
Where You’ll Make an Impact
Engineering – support teaching and research activities in workshops and laboratories, operate and maintain equipment, and enable safe, high-quality practical learning.
Life Sciences – prepare and support classes in areas such as laboratory and medical laboratory sciences, nursing & midwifery, paramedicine, allied health incorporating (physiotherapy, sport & exercise, anatomy, physiology and occupational therapy), and other emerging health related areas.
Support facilities in research areas of biomedical & molecular sciences, agriculture & sustainability, crop health, natural resource management, environment and climate sciences.
Creative Arts – support teaching related activities in studios, production and creative spaces across design, visual arts, music, theatre, and digital media.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare equipment, materials and spaces for practical classes, workshops, studios or research facilities relevant to your area of experience/training
- Assist students and staff in the safe and effective use of specialised equipment in teaching and research activities
- Undertake routine maintenance, troubleshooting and setup of technical apparatus
- Support WHS practices and accurate technical documentation
- Maintain accurate technical records, inventories and facility documentation
- Provide outstanding customer service within fast-paced technical learning environments
You will need to be agile and adaptable and work well as part of a team.
What You’ll Bring
- A relevant degree, training and/or equivalent experience in a technical, laboratory, workshop, or creative environment
- Hands-on experience with equipment, techniques or processes relevant to Engineering, Life Sciences, or Creative Arts
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, student-focused approach
- Working knowledge of health and safety practices in technical spaces
