Governors State University is seeking to hire an Extra-Help School-Age Teacher who works alongside the classroom teacher. Assisting with the children, maintaining ratios, and providing a fun and safe environment. Engages in daily activities and provides support throughout the day.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher with curriculum and daily activities.
- Provide support to the teacher and students.
- Follow and maintain routines and the daily schedule, including mealtimes, safe play, outdoor activities, maintaining ratios, and attending scheduled field trips.
- Follow DCFS standards and all health and safety requirements, including cleaning duties, laundry and keeping the classroom neat and organized.
Preferred and Required Qualifications
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma plus 3120 clock hours of experience in a recreational program, kindergarten or licensed day care center serving school-age children or a licensed exempt school-age child care program operated by a public or private school.
- At least 19 years of age and at least five years older than the oldest child with whom they work.
- Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to childcare and/or child development, from birth to age six.
Supplemental Information
This is a temporary summer position.
This position will work 37.5 hours per week.
A lift exam is required, as this position requires lifting 26 pounds or more.
