About the role

The UNE Discovery Voyager program develops and facilitates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) play-based, interactive activities, which are delivered in schools and other educational settings to students from K-Yr10 in regional NSW. The Discovery Voyager Senior Science Educator will work closely with the UNE Discovery Voyager Team Leader and take a lead role in developing, facilitating and delivering STEAM activities in schools in northern NSW. They will work with team members and UNE academics to develop and coordinate relevant content for these activities.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication and organisational skills. It is essential that you have good time management skills and work well in a team. You will ideally have a science or teaching background and have experience engaging with students from K-Yr10. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to contribute to new and novel science-related, curriculum-aligned activities suitable for primary and secondary students. This role involves some travel away from home.

About the Faculty/Group

The UNE Discovery program is a mobile outreach program delivering innovative educational experiences to school-aged students and communities in northern NSW. The program has been operational since 2016 and since that time, the team has taken interactive and play-based learning activities to more than 30,000 students in schools across northern NSW. The program aims to provide transformational and inspiring STEAM experiences to students, increase awareness of the UNE brand and strengthen relationships with primary and secondary schools in northern NSW.
