Minimum Requirements
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
- State Instructor Credentials: Completion of a State of Michigan LARA-approved Train-the-Trainer program for Nurse Aide Instructors (or eligible for immediate state approval).
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one (1) year of experience providing direct care in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility (LARA mandate).
- Healthcare Certification: Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
- State Clearances: Must pass a State of Michigan Criminal Background Investigation (CBI), 10-panel drug screen, and provide proof of required healthcare immunizations (TB, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu).
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Prior instructional or clinical preceptorship experience in a community college or vocational setting.
- Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and assist patients with mobility for extended periods during clinical shifts.
- Ability to lift, position, and move equipment or simulated/actual patients weighing up to 50 lbs using proper body mechanics.
Work Schedule
Varies based on course assignments and departmental need; may include day, evening, or weekend lecture and lab sessions
Additional Information
Requires travel to off-campus clinical partner sites and direct supervision of students providing patient care in long-term care environments.
