We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities Compliance Operative to join our Workplace Services team. This pivotal role supports the operational delivery of compliance checks and maintenance across a diverse and complex University estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct planned compliance inspections (e.g. Legionella, fire safety systems, emergency lighting).
  • Diagnose faults and recommend remedial actions using mobile compliance software.
  • Support health & safety practices and ensure legal and University standards are met.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external contractors to maintain high service standards.
  • Assist with operational tasks such as furniture moves, room setups, and recycling.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What We are Looking For:

  • Good general education (GCSE/NVQ Level 2) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in facilities, porterage, or similar operational roles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic D.I.Y. and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel across multiple sites and occasionally work outside standard hours.
  • Commitment to health & safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
