Facilities Team Leader – Skilled Trades (FT)

JOB DUTIES
- Coordinates activities of workers engaged in building, demolishing, maintaining, repairing and cleaning physical structures of buildings and grounds.
- Coordinates and organizes skilled trades personnel in projects and renovations, including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, acoustical ceilings, offices, and other major construction tasks.
- Assists skilled trades in the completion of maintenance, replacements, upgrades, and renovations of integrated buildings systems.
- Coordinates the activities of workers engaged in maintaining a clean, safe and healthy campus environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to support their facilities-related needs, including event setup and equipment maintenance.
- Interprets College policies, trains work force, identifies, and reports safety violations.
- Analyzes and resolves issues based on institutional knowledge and experience.
- Actively surveys and inspects worksites and projects for conformity with safety and health standards.
- Confers with other Team Leads and Supervisors to coordinate activities of individual Divisions and Departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides training on proper procedures for the handling of hazardous or biohazard materials or containers.
- Provides support to skilled trades to properly complete tasks as required.
- Provides material lists for projects as requested.
- Assists skilled trades in coordinating repairs through vendors as necessary.
- Projects, sets schedules, estimates costs and labor hour(s) requirement for completion of job assignment.
- Establishes or adjusts procedures to meet production schedules.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to safely increase efficiency and operations.
- Suggests methods to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Performs daily inventory of work orders and regularly updates the Supervising Team Leader(s) to ensure completion of the same.
- Responsible for maintaining supply inventories.
- Assists with "Right to Know" updates and surveys.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities
WORKING CONDITIONS
- May require working outside regular business hours for emergencies or special projects.
- Required to be part of the Snow Removal Operation.
- Location of operation/assignments may vary and employee will be required to conduct work as assigned regardless of location/campus.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work:Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five (5) years of Facilities/Maintenance experience.
- Must possess and maintain drivers privileges in NJ at all times during employment
- Skilled in the following trades but not limited to: Carpentry, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Painting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Reads and follows blueprints as required to perform tasks.
- Provides reports to supervisors/managers/directors as needed to communicate projects updates and status, and to communicate needs.
- Has significant working knowledge of commercial building systems to properly provide insight, support, and assistance to skilled trades in performing daily tasks and repairs.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
- Experience using facilities management software and tools.
- AA/AS in related field from an accredited institution
