This temporary, full-time instructor will work one regular academic year (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027), Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Teaching responsibilities may be at any of KCC's instructional locations.

Position Summary
This temporary, full-time instructor position reports to the Chair, Math and Science. The position is responsible for instruction and delivery of Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and/or Basic Biology course outcomes, teaching full load for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 academic semesters primarily at the main campus in Battle Creek, Michigan, as well as instruction in various modalities, including but not limited to face-to-face, asynchronous online, remote synchronous (via video), and hybrid, as needed. Other responsibilities include maintaining weekly office hours; participation in student learning outcomes assessment activities; and participation in meetings and committees. Travel to regional instructional sites is expected for instructional assignments, departmental and college meetings, training, and events.

Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master's degree or higher (or international equivalent) in a field of life science OR a professional degree in the biomedical sciences (e.g., MSN, MD, DO, DC, DPT, DDS, DVM or international equivalents) OR other advanced clinical degree awarded by a nationally accredited institution OR master's degree or higher in science education combined with appropriate coursework in science or biomedicine. 2. Demonstrated successful teaching experience in higher education.
3. Demonstrated successful experience teaching face-to-face and with the use of in-classroom and online technology.
4. Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, and experience working with a diverse population.
5. Demonstrated evidence of understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission.
6. Must have the ability and means to travel to main campus and among regional work sites.

Preferred but not Required

1. Evidence of postsecondary teaching experience in Human Anatomy and/or Human Physiology.
2. Evidence of postsecondary teaching experience in another discipline area in the Math and Science Department.
3. Teaching experience at a community college.
4. Experience teaching courses in different modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, fully online).

Proposed Salary

Job Duties

Essential Function: Instruction

Description:

• Teach Biology lecture and lab courses, primarily Human Anatomy and Human Physiology, in accordance with college policies and procedures in a variety of instructional settings and online modalities.
• Prepare course materials for Biology courses according to accreditation and best practices in collaboration with other science faculty.
• Submit student attendance, grades, and other records according to the determined deadlines.
• Participate in student learning outcomes assessment activities at the classroom, course, program, and General Education levels; submit assessment data according to the determined deadlines.
• Collaborate with administration and faculty to maintain continuous quality improvement processes and plan appropriate strategies based on assessment of quality indicators.
• Exhibit commitment to leading and working as part of a team, both inside and outside the Math and Science department.
• Maintain office hours; participate and collaborate in department and institutional meetings and committees as needed.
• Maintain current and relevant teaching expertise in content topics related to Human Anatomy and Human Physiology.
• Assume teaching assignments at all College locations and within all College hours of operation.
• Participate and utilize a variety of instructional technologies and learner-centered teaching methodologies as needed to engage a diverse student population.
