Faculty Data Analyst
Position Summary
The Faculty Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on faculty-related data to support academic planning, institutional effectiveness, and strategic decision-making. This role serves as the primary data specialist within Faculty Affairs, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of all faculty data systems. The analyst works closely with institutional stakeholders to streamline processes, create data visualizations, generate internal and external reports, and support compliance and accreditation efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert on faculty data systems including Banner/Ellucian, PeopleAdmin, Smartsheet and other analytics platforms.
- Manage the digital faculty database including employment, demographics, position funding, compensation, sabbaticals, leaves, grants, and professional development tracking.
- Design and maintain dynamic dashboards and data visualizations to support institutional analysis and forecasting related to faculty demographics, hiring trends, and retention.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret data for recurring and ad hoc reports including, internal audits, accreditation support, and institutional planning.
- Generate and verify faculty personnel and payroll data through Banner to ensure accurate processing of appointments, reappointments, separations, salary changes, and supplemental pay.
- Analyze budget codes and calculate payroll projections for part-time and full-time faculty to support planning and compliance.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, Budget Office, and Academic Affairs to validate data and improve system integration.
- Collect and synthesize data for annual New Faculty Orientation, bi-annual Faculty Institutes, and other professional development initiatives.
- Audit and reconcile discrepancies in faculty pay and appointment records; develop summaries highlighting root causes and resolution pathways.
- Process and track faculty leaves, honoraria, stipends, and payments associated with Title III, Mellon, and other grants using data-driven tools.
- Assist in the ongoing development of automated workflows and improved analytics reporting for Faculty Affairs operations.
- Maintain accurate and secure digital and physical records for faculty personnel files, in alignment with institutional policies.
- Support survey development, deployment, and analysis related to faculty engagement, needs assessments, or satisfaction.
- Prepare statistical and narrative reports, ensuring data integrity and compliance with institutional, state, and federal reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Higher Education Administration, or a related field required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, institutional research, or a similar role, preferably in a higher education environment.
Demonstrated experience working with enterprise data systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleAdmin) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL).
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, formulas, and charting.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree preferred.
