Research Technician & Coordinator (Research Analyst Intermediate)
Job Description
Work with a variety of outside entities to fulfill the mission of the Ag and Energy Center to oversee and manage crop research projects, data collection, analysis and reporting. The crop year begins with planning thru the harvesting of the crop and the final required reports; this position will also assist with demonstration activities and events as they relate to the general support of the Ag and Energy Center; is also responsible for the facilitation of the chemical safety program and protocols as it relates to crop production and will oversee the horticulture interests and assets of the Ag and Energy Center.
Salary Range: $25.67-$37.26/hr, $53,599-77,799 annually
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience in horticulture/agronomic techniques and practices (e.g., planting schedules, germination intervals, and transportation procedures) sufficient to maintain and improve facility grounds/landscape and recognize and/or treat diseases and pests. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field will count as one (1) year of experience.
Ability to perform tabulation and data processing for research projects, including gathering and preparing reliable and valid statistical information to apply procedures for editing, reviewing, processing, and disseminating information.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal.
Experience with safe use of and simple repair of hand-held tools and riding machinery (i.e., lawn, landscape, hand, and heavier equipment).
Possession of an Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator’s license prior to completion of probation.
Possession of active, valid, and applicable Class D driver’s license at time of hire.
Preferred Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent years of experience.
Knowledge of basic descriptive and inferential statistical methods, their application, and limitations sufficient to select and use appropriate procedures to solve problems and interpret results
Knowledge of lawn and garden care methods sufficient to prune, mow, fertilize, weed, seed, and sod as necessary.
Ability to move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in inclement weather.
Ability to present data to large and small groups
Knowledge of computer software skills sufficient to construct tables, charts, graphs, etc. to appropriately and correctly depict data.
Ability and skills to operate an unmanned aerial system (drone) and interpret data received from related equipment.
Possession of a PART 107 license.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
8 hours/day, 8:00-4:30, Monday-Friday with overtime as needed
