Position Summary
Concordia University (CU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in its Department of Humanities and Social Sciences to begin in August 2026. The successful applicant will be able to serve as a generalist. Main responsibilities will include a 4-4 teaching load across introductory composition and literature courses, including collaborating to develop new literature courses for the core curriculum. Upper-level teaching opportunities include courses in literature, linguistics, technical writing, and professional writing. Concordia University emphasizes excellent classroom teaching and active participation in campus life, and all faculty engage in scholarship, committee work, and advising. This position is located on the Mequon, WI campus.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach an academically diverse audience in core courses including first-year writing and literature courses in the new CUW core organized around the strands of The True the Good and the Beautiful, Human Wellbeing, Human Innovation, and Societies and Communities.
- Teach majors in upper-level courses based on appropriate expertise and experience.
- Foster and support a welcoming and encouraging community and a culture of academic excellence for all students.
- Collaborate with other CUW English faculty in program assessment and course development and design.
- Fulfill expectations for peer-reviewed scholarship and service as outlined in the CUW Faculty Handbook.
- Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
For consideration, candidates must have a Ph.D. in English (ABD may be considered). Concordia University faculty must be members of Christian congregations; members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod are especially encouraged to apply
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt (salary) faculty position. The starting wage is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience. Concordia University benefit options include, but are not limited to the following:
