Faculty - Humanities (Adjunct)
Position Summary: Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach courses in our Humanities program. Faculty will teach a variety of HUM prefix courses mostly during day time hours, including but not limited to; Technology and Society, Myth and Human Culture, and possibly Critical Thinking. This is not an online-only position, but may include online, hyflex, or hybrid classes in the future. All interested applicants must be able to teach in-person, or you will not be considered for the position.
Required Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree or higher in Humanities, Liberal Studies, or American Studies, or a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in related coursework that focuses on the human condition. This includes, but is not limited to, literature, philosophy, religion, history, and cultural studies.
Department: Lib Arts - Humanities
Work Hours: MUST BE WILLING TO TEACH DAY TIME HOURS AND POSSIBLY EVENING HOURS ON VARIOUS CAMPUS LOCATIONS.
- Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
- Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.
- Communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the College’s support services to identify and address the students’ academic support needs.
- Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College’s learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
- Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
- When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
- Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty and staff.
