Faculty, Pediatrics (Resident)
Job Description Summary
Responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of all learning activities in any given course. The instructor must remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. The instructor is also responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, curriculum design, and other activities that contribute to the department, division, and College. The instructor performs all other duties as directed by the Department Chair, Division Dean, Provost, or the President or designee.
Resident Faculty: A termed faculty position, renewable annually in accordance with the contract. This Resident position is held for the department chair to return to a faculty position.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master of Science degree in Nursing required.
- Specialization in Pediatrics required.
- Active R.N. licensure or eligibility for active R.N. licensure in Maryland.
- Two years of teaching experience in nursing education preferred.
AREA SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Extent and relevance of graduate educational preparation to anticipated teaching assignment.
- Relevance of teaching experience to anticipated teaching assignments in classroom and clinical settings.
- Relevance of non-teaching experience to anticipated teaching assignments.
- Evidence of quality teaching, including faculty evaluation scores and ratings, teaching awards earned, courses designed, developed, and/or revised, etc.
- Evidence of knowledge of and experience in employing instructional methods and techniques appropriate to diverse student learning styles.
- Evidence of currency in professional discipline through continuing education, professional development, and/or scholarly activity.
- Evidence of ability to teach effectively within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment.
- Familiarity with philosophy and goals of Associate Degree Nursing Programs.
- Pertinent experience in nursing, i.e., clinical competence, specialty, computers, and simulation technology.
- Willing to work evenings and/or weekends.
Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions maybe required. Occasionally the ability to physically move and lift materials 5-25 pounds maybe required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
- As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
- A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
Special Instructions to Applicants
- The salary range for full time faculty positions is $53,850 – $75,850 depending on education and experience.
