Faculty Position - Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
Position Summary
Gannon University, a Catholic university, includes a collaborative and dynamic faculty that prepares motivated students intellectually, professionally and personally for leadership roles in their careers, society and church. This full-time, 12-month faculty position for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program located at the Ruskin, Florida campus is available to begin July 1, 2026. Teaching track or tenure track appointment is available. Rank will be determined according to university standards at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
Gannon University is committed to excellence in student-centered learning with an emphasis on student learning outcomes. The faculty works collaboratively and inter-professionally to deliver a professional education, advise students, participate in scholarly engagement, and provide interactive teaching and learning styles. The program faculty also engage in University, professional, and community service.
The DPT Program in Ruskin, FL, recently was granted a 10-year re-accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The program is face-to-face, 9 semesters in length, and requires 111 credits for completion. The curriculum is systems based and service-focused, emphasizing didactic to clinical competency in the development of a strong entry-level generalist physical therapist.
Required Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements: Qualified candidates will possess a post-professional doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DHS, DSc, etc. or ABD) and/or a DPT degree. Candidate's content expertise will be used to assign teaching load. Additional requirements include greater than three years of clinical experience, three years of clinical teaching as a clinical instructor and/or site coordinator of clinical education.
License: Must be eligible for Florida state licensure as a physical therapist.
Rank: In accordance with the University's standards, the Provost and Vice President for Student Experience will award initial rank at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
- ABPTS specialty certification
- Expertise in musculoskeletal physical therapy
- Expertise in exercise physiology
- Prior teaching experience in an entry-level PT program
- Research experience
